My 9 year old nephew spends hours on it. The program focuses on the dynamics of music. &#8221;It teaches the player to recognize how the same song can have a very different mood when played in different ways such as loud, soft, slow, fast, choppy, or smooth.&#8221; It also includes videos, games, and an interactive expressions workshop to help teach the relationship between dynamic and mood.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Verdana">Click on the links to view my very first podcast and vodcast. They are not very good because i was unfamiliar with the programs although after reflecting on my work i thought of a few ways it could be used across the KLA&#8217;s. For example i think it is a great tool for public specking- students can record and reflect on their own work and their peers. Students could:  </span><span style="font-family: Verdana">make their own commercial highlighting a specific product or current issue, podcast their own radio station, create a short sequence of events in relation to a story, write a song and choreograph a video clip.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana">With the use of video and sound students are able to create just about anything!</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a title="bianca" href="http://biancaritky.edublogs.org/2008/05/03/why-not-celebrate-achievement/">Bianca&#8217;s</a> experience on practicum sounds very similar to my experience while observing students a year 3 computers lesson. It was very interesting to see what the children came up with. On my prac i had a chat with one of the teachers and she informed me that she knew very little about computers and was scared she would brake something while using one. I agree with Bianca that children are not afraid to experiment with new technologies and i think this is due to their up bringing. Children these days are familiar with computer devices whereas back in the day children it would be more likely to see children playing in the backyard. We have come a long with with new technologies in such a short period of time. This is why i think adults need to put in twice the effort if they are to implement these technologies in the classroom successfully.</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">This <a title="Constructionism vs Instructionism" href="http://www.papert.org/articles/const_inst/const_inst1.html">article</a> makes comparisons between learning mathematics in the classroom and how we use it in the real world. It defines ‘Constructionism’ as a way of helping students learn better by making mathematics relevant to the real world. With today’s technologies, mathematics can be turned into more meaningful experiences that students can relate to. In terms of ‘Instructionism’ it refers to computers as instructional machines that leave no room for human instruction to improve education. By incorporating technology a new avenue is opened in student’s approaches to mathematics. ‘Constructionism’ is a new approach to teaching where students can make use of what they have learnt rather then traditional ‘paper and pen’ methods of learning.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Personally I agree with this approach as I never found the relevance of mathematics in primary school. I was never taught how I could use it, when I was using it and why it was important. Teaching approaches are changing and computers are playing a big role. Teachers need to work with new technologies and help students find a purpose for their mathematical experiences. </span></p>

<p>I was interested in <a title="cyberbullying" href="http://jobes.edublogs.org/2008/04/13/cyberbullying/">Jo&#8217;s posting </a>on cyberbullying as i came across a student on my practicum, who was reading an email containing some very harsh words during free computer time. I immediately erased it and told the student not to pay attention to silly things like that and if it happens again to report it to the teacher. I think as adults we need to keep a realistic view on the negative effects the Internet can have and monitor exactly what students are doing while using computers.</p>
<p>During school hours teachers need to filter informal emails to ensure students are using computers for educational purposes only. I did a bit of research and discovered a website for children called <a title="cyberbullying" href="http://www.stopcyberbullying.org/kids/index.html">&#8216;Stop Cyberbullying&#8217;</a>. Children become familiar with types of bullying and also learn a range of steps they can taken to stop this form of harassment. It is also good to see these issues being brought up in the media (current affair, 60minutes) to make teachers and parents aware of the damaging effects it has on children.</p>

At times the internet can be on overflow of information and full of advertisements. Teachers need to filter appropriate sources, so students can gain maximum benefits from programs without the distractions. The article is concerned with technologies role in the 21st century. Studies prove that the incorporation of technology can enhance skills to better our learning. The use of computers, digital cameras, video recorders allow students to relate their studies to the real world. To me, to is a way of preparing students for the workforce.</p>
<p>I think technology has come a long way and will continue to expand. It provides students with learning variations and keeps them up to date with what is going on in our world. It is a very powerful tool in the way we learn and hopfully one day be directly embedded into the curriculum and throughout each KLA.</p>
